Photo Gallery : 2014 Reporting Awards The 2014 Annual Public Sector Reporting Awards were presented to the winning department at a glamorous function at the Cape Town Lodge on 18 September 2014. The Southern African Institute of Government Auditors (SAIGA) was represented by the President of the Institute, Prof Dieter Gloeck and Mr Abrie Adendorff a Council member. Prof Gloeck stressed the importance of the PFMA – the Act that was responsible for government departments preparing annual financial statements in the current format. The Chief Financial Officer of the Department of Transport & Public Works, Mr Cedric Ismay explained the process through which annual financial statements have to go before being published. It became clear that this exercise is a massive team effort. The President of SAIGA and Chair of the Awards Committee, Prof Dieter Gloeck, congratulates the Western Cape Minister of Transport & Public Works, Mr Donald Grant, on his Department’s achievement and hands over the Platinum framed certificate for the overall winner 2014. Mr Abrie Adendorff, SAIGA Council member, hands over the Awards for the best Western Cape Department to the Accounting Officer of the Department of Transport & Public Works, Ms Jacqui Gooch. The Department’s Chief Financial Officer, Mr Cedric Ismay, proudly receives a trophy for the Award for the Most Consistent Department over the last three years from Mr Adendorff of SAIGA Ms Jacqui Gooch, Accounting Officer of the Department of Transport & Public Works thanked her staff and assured the public that the Department would not “sit” idle in the fast lane only to be overtaken by others. She said that her Department was encouraged by the Award to perform even better. Everyone had a chance to hold the various certificates and trophies which the Department won.
